Crude oil tankers
Tanker classes and the Dasic equipment used on board.
Crude oil tankers fall into six main classes by deadweight tonnage:
| Class | Deadweight (DWT) |
|---|---|
| General Purpose | 10,000–24,999 |
| Medium Range | 25,000–44,999 |
| Long Range 1 (LR1) | 45,000–79,999 |
| Long Range 2 (LR2) | 80,000–159,999 |
| Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) | 160,000–319,999 |
| Ultra Large Crude Carrier (ULCC) | 320,000–549,999 |
For long-haul crude in large quantities the VLCC is most common. Some routes have limits set by canal widths or lock sizes, such as the Panama and Suez canals, and these have their own design designations.
Dasic equipment for crude oil tankers
Dasic supplies tank washing machines for crude oil washing, and deep-penetration Jetfans for gas freeing cargo tanks, from the Jetfan 125 water-driven fan upwards.
